His peaceful little farm and the sweet baby monkey named Su who followed him everywhere. Each morning, as the sun painted the sky orange and gold, Bu Bu would put on his wide straw hat, and Su would scamper onto his shoulder, ready for another day of adventure in the watermelon garden.

Their garden stretched across a gentle hillside, filled with vines that curled like green ribbons and round watermelons that glistened with morning dew. Farmer Bu Bu tended to each plant with patient care, loosening the soil, checking the leaves, and making sure the melons received just the right amount of water. Su, eager to help, often carried tiny watering cans or plucked away fallen leaves with his tiny hands. Though he sometimes made more mischief than progress, Bu Bu always laughed and thanked him for trying.
As the warm season deepened, the watermelons grew plumper and heavier. Bu Bu showed Su how to gently tap the rind to listen for the deep, hollow sound that meant a melon was ripe. Su would imitate him, tapping each melon with great seriousness, his tail swishing with concentration. When he found one that sounded just right, he would squeak proudly, and Bu Bu would praise him with a pat on the head.
They protected the garden together, too. At dusk, when curious birds and wandering animals came too close, Su would leap onto the fence and clap his hands, sending them scattering. Bu Bu admired his bravery, calling him the “Guardian of the Melons.”
