Fresh off a magnetic Coachella set and a string of euphoric Brooklyn shows, Charli XCX landed in Cannes with the full force of Brat summer in tow — and a Magnum bar in hand.
The pop provocateur was the guest of honor at the Magnum Crack Into Pleasure party on May 15, 2025, held at the iconic Palais Stephanie Beach. The high-profile event, a staple activation during the Cannes Film Festival, transformed the Croisette into a green-hued temple of “unapologetic indulgence” as Magnum debuted their latest campaign encouraging pleasure seekers to “own the moment.”
Charli certainly owned hers.
Wearing a stunning archival Vivienne Westwood look — reportedly a nod to a now-iconic 1995 runway moment where a model devoured a Magnum bar on the catwalk — she lit up the soirée with both presence and performance. After hopping into the DJ booth, Charli hyped up the crowd by singing along to fan-favorites like “Mean Girls” and later vibed to “360” while a male performer handled the verses.
The beach party itself was pure sensory overload: guests sipped green-tinted “XCX shakes,” sampled Brat-branded ice cream bars, and got a first taste of Magnum’s new Bakery launch. Earlier in the night, Lucky Love set the tone with a rousing performance of “Now I Don’t Need Your Love,” priming the crowd for Charli’s arrival.
The guest list was as star-studded as the Riviera sky, featuring Georgia May Jagger, Barbara Palvin, Romee Strijd, Rossy DePalma, Dylan Sprouse, Joan Margarit, Patrick Ta, Max Balegde, Álvaro Rico, and more. It was a natural continuation of Charli’s ongoing relationship with Magnum, following in the footsteps of close friend and Sweat Tour collaborator Troye Sivan, who partnered with the brand last year.
But Cannes wasn’t just parties and playlists for Charli.
The singer-songwriter made her way to the Palais again on Friday to attend the world premiere of Charlie Polinger’s The Plague, screening as part of the Un Certain Regard section. The film, which stars Joel Edgerton, Everett Blunck, Kayo Martin, and Kenny Rasmussen, reportedly received an 11-minute standing ovation — with Charli enthusiastically on her feet.
Not one to keep thoughts to herself, she posted her take on Letterboxd shortly after:
“Literally sat in the car leaving the screening of this movie feeling like I’m reeling. Sound design on point, undeniable performances and the transition from charming boyhood to total fucking chaos left me shook. It’s so confusing sometimes to be a BOY.”
The Cannes appearance comes amid Charli’s rapid-fire ascent as not just a musical powerhouse but an emerging force in film and TV. She’ll soon be seen in Benito Skinner’s Amazon Prime series Overcompensating and has a role in Gregg Araki’s upcoming film I Want Your Sex alongside Olivia Wilde, Johnny Knoxville, and Chase Sui Wonders. She’s also set to star in and co-produce an A24 feature titled The Moment.
And because no Cannes moment is complete without a bit of edible glam, Charli was last seen posing outside the party — Magnum bar in hand, naturally.
Only in Cannes.
